Which social platform is better for business?

Studies from Markerly have shown that Instagram Reels are better for business compared to TikTok which tends to be more popular for influencers and celebrities. With Will Smith having the most followers on the platform with 30.6 million followers. Jason Derulo, Jojo Siwa and Justin Beiber are also amongst the most popular accounts. Influencers received more likes on TikTok compared to Instagram. Although, this could be for many reasons. It may depend on how long you’ve been on the platform and the number of followers you have.

Maybe TikTok is the better platform if you are an influencer or Instagram is more suitable for your business. The key takeaway from this is it depends on what type of business you are and who your target market is.

You could use both platforms to reach different markets or maximise your digital reach. Both platforms offer great benefits. Instagram also developed Instagram Reels to compete with TikTok, so you will always be able to create high-quality video content. You can even post interchangeable content on both platforms.

However, If you do want to repurpose your TikTok content for reels, ensure you remove the TikTok logo otherwise Instagram will not push your content as much as they are trying to compete with Instagram Reels.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the rise of influencers and influencer marketing has become pivotal for brands. Content creators have made brands rethink their marketing strategies to satisfy their audiences. However, with dances, how-to videos and memes sweeping the average Instagram feed you may be asking yourself “where do I fit in?”.

It’s important to understand that you do not have to do everything.

Understand who your target market is, what they like and dislike and the most efficient way to reach them. For example, if your market is in the over 50s bracket, doing fast dances may not be the best option. Social media can become saturated at times as there is a new trend every day. But as a business, you should always seek new platforms and new ways to connect with your consumers. Social media is a vast place, is constantly growing and so are your consumers. Therefore, creating a personalised message for each platform will help you reach the right market and boost your business.
